Social Media’s Effects + How We Can Grow
Jamela Mari Empeño
Social media has altered everyone‘s own definition of where they‘re supposed to be in their life. As we scroll endlessly, seeing everyone posting the polished and altered moments in their life, it affects what we see as normal. The hours spent scrolling get absorbed, and we see another person‘s altered reality and astonishing accomplishment as the norm and expect it of ourselves. Do not use AGE as a checkpoint of where you're supposed to be, what you should have accomplished, how you should feel. Everyone is running on their own clock, and it shouldn't dictate yours. Life isn‘t a race, but timeless moments filled with experience. We shouldn't use social media for our standards but merely as inspiration or motivation for our goals, as we move on our own time.
